The Space: Yoga, Meditation, and Wellness
A proud Indigenous (Gwichyà Gwich’in) woman, Cynthia infuses her classes with an element of land-based spirituality to encourage a sense of self-reflection and connection to the space and the world around us.While initially approaching her yoga practice from a physical aspect over 10 years ago, she quickly fell in love with the way the physicality of the asanas turned into a way of really looking inside herself to find healing wisdom and peace through ancient lessons amidst modern chaos. And while teaching was never part of her vision to create The Space, Cynthia followed the pull to learn more about the ancient wisdom practice and felt compelled to share this transcending, yet deeply grounding perspective with others in her community.Building on what she has helped create in-studio, Cynthia has completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training from an Indigenous-led Trauma-informed Yoga Psychology School, and will not only conduct regular classes and workshops in studio, but will continue to work with schools, youth organizations, sporting teams, and businesses to bring offerings of yoga and meditation out into the community for off-site practices — thereby offering full ease of access to yoga and meditation; making these services and their benefits truly accessible to everyone.Cynthia’s mandate will always remain clear and true: to continue to provide a safe space in which to support individuals on their physical, mental, and spiritual health and healing journeys while promoting values of education, diversity, inclusivity, and community.
