About the Class

This class includes a mix of both Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Tai Chi is a martial art, which consists of a series of slow movements which flow into one another. Qi Gong is based on the traditional Chinese concept that all disease stems from an imbalance of qi.  This is vital energy which flows along invisible pathways.  The practice of Tai Chi and Qi Gong has many benefits.  The slow movements not only exercise all the muscles and joints of the body but perform an internal massage for vital organs. It has been shown to improve the immune system, lower blood pressure and assist with getting a good night’s sleep.  It is very relaxing and helps sufferers of depression, anxiety or stress.  Studies have proven that because these practices improve heart health, balance and flexibility, they reduce the risk of falls in older people.  The relaxed and deep breathing is very beneficial for anyone who has problems with their lungs.  They are gentle and perfect for people with arthritis or limited mobility.  They can even be done seated and easily adapted for anyone’s needs.
