The Yoga Room
Robin began practicing yoga in 2014 for the physical benefits. She noticed an increase in strength and flexibility, but also that there was pleasure in the practice and she found a sense of peace and community. Unlike other short lived “exercise programs” begun in the past, yoga has become a staple in Robin’s life and her studio a treasured community. In Spring 2022, the year following her retirement from teaching Chemistry at Auburn High School, Robin graduated from a 200-hour alignment-based yoga teaching course led by Nicole Agostino. The course deepened her understanding of yoga beyond postures adding the ethics, the breath work, concentration and meditation. Upon graduation, Robin started teaching at THE YOGA ROOM allowing her a place to continue being a teacher and a chance to lead others, but in a whole new arena outside of the Chemistry lab.Robin’s classes tend to be full spectrum breath to movement flows. After the intention and warm up with Sun Salutations, the class will typically have a set of standing flows with a specific focus: for example, opening the hips, twisting the torso, or strengthening the core. Occasionally the standing flows will move the class towards a peak pose. Finally, her classes end with seated and supine postures to counter and cool down. Her music choices tend to be a little old school expect some 70’s soft rock. Come check out one of her classes and you will find “You’ve got a friend”!
