Yoga Shala by the Sea
Deva completed her yoga teacher training certification in Anusara Yoga in Boulder, CO in 2010 and also completed a woman’s yoga teacher training in Mexico in 2012. She has been teaching yoga and meditation in Big Sur since making it her home in 2011. In addition she is passionate about the transformational power of Sacred Sound. She has a certificate in Sound Healing from the Globe Institute of Sound & Consciousness in San Francisco and is a distributor for Crystal Tones Singing Bowls. She works at both Post Ranch Inn and Esalen in Big Sur where she leads Sound Journeys and teaches yoga, mediation and her signature class called “the Hive and Hum,” about honeybees and frequency. She is the co-creator of, “The Moon Divas Guidebook: Spirited Self-Care for Women in Transition,” and is currently working on another book project. She has a private practice that includes remote healing and helping people find their perfect alchemy bowls. In 1997 while on a 4.5 month pilgrimage Deva acquired her first sacred sound tools - two Tibetan Singing Bowls and a set of tingshas. During this journey she also deepened her yoga practice and learned the art of meditation, most notably while studying with the Dalai Lama for ten days after the Tibetan New Year in Dharmsala, India. From there she has traveled and studied healing modalities in Belize, Thailand, Malaysia, Nepal, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Bali and most recently a 2.5 week pilgrimage to the Great Pyramids and Temples in Egypt with 24 women - an initiation of divine love, leadership and vocal empowerment. She incorporates this kaleidoscope of cultures and wisdom into her classes and workshops to create a unified field of pure awareness and healing, which leave most in a state of wonder, awe and gratitude!
