My background is in business administration. On the heels of a stressful international business trip in my capacity as a Senior Global Sales Director I sustained a debilitating back injury that ultimately forced me into early retirement. After years of chronic back pain and having tried just about anything to resolve it I came across Essential Somatic Movements based on the work of Thomas Hanna, PhD. This modality not only has taught me techniques on how to release my back pain it is also teaching me to sense the dysfunctional movement patterns I have habituated over the years. After practicing for just a few months the way I walk has become more balanced and my ability to stand and sit in alignment is improving. This work is not just treating the symptoms – stiffness or pain - but gets to the root cause – dysfunctional movements and chronically contracted muscles - and offers ways to eliminate the occurrence. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a teacher locally and had to travel all over the country to find instructors for hands on guidance. This is what motivated me to become a certified teacher and make this amazing work available to a broader audience. I am currently in training to become an Essential Somatics Movement Teacher, cleared to teach as part of the certification process.
