Yin-Yang Yoga blends together two styles of practice resulting in a well-rounded class that balances one's energy and offers an opportunity to explore both ends of the “yoga spectrum”. Yin and Yang are Taoist concepts that describe relative qualities believed to be present in all things. Yin energy is slow, internal, cooling, and more passive. Yang energy is faster, external, warming, and more dynamic. Yin Yoga works on the deep connective tissue of the body by passively holding grounded poses for a longer time. Conversely, a Yang style of yoga warms the muscles, raises the heart rate, and may include more standing and/or flowing postures.
