Kelsey's love of yoga began as a connection with the physical component (asana), after her parents encouraged her to find activities that required movement to counter the endless hours she would spend as a child with her nose in a book. As she grew, her practice matured into a spiritual journey, enriched with lessons that she has since learned to take off the mat and into her everyday life. As a human with chronic anxiety, these lessons have changed her life—the ability to cultivate contentment (santosha) from within, observe attachments, and use breath to condition the nervous system in times of stress, to name a few. Inspired to take her own practice deeper, Kelsey completed her 200 Hour Teacher Training at the Down Under Yoga Studio in Brookline, MA, in 2016. It was there that she discovered the satisfaction that comes with empowering others to find their own practice. Kelsey brings to the mat powerhouse sequences that are intentionally challenging, designed to bolden you and bring you into your body so that you can examine what is hard. Throughout class, she will encourage students to be intuitive and honor the internal cues of their own body while dancing through a sequence of heating postures grounded in breath. She believes yoga is poetry, a moving meditation where students can dive deeper into their own intuition and discover who they are. In her class, Kelsey creates a safe space in which students are offered the opportunity to practice hard things so that they can remain steady and confident in the face of hard things in life. In her spare time, Kelsey loves to spend time with her husband and cat, find new trails to hike and mountains to climb, make music, creative write, and cook interesting meals.
