About the Class

- Are you experiencing any physical imbalances/weakness that may be causing discomfort or difficulty in certain postures or movements? - Do you have difficulty stabilizing or balancing in a single leg or arm exercise? - Are you looking to take your practice to the next level? This class will focus on the principles of foundational core strength with attention to proper spinal alignment, posture and breath. Beginning on our mats, focusing on our “core” which is abdominal, postural and gluteal strength paired with planks and unilateral exercises. We will continue to flow through Sun Salutations before exploring traditional yoga postures to gain a better understanding of body mechanics allowing for a deeper expansion and stretch. Using tools like blocks and resistance bands to help target the primary muscles that are responsible for more challenging postures like Chaturanga, Vasisthasana, Warrior III and Half Moon. Learning how to engage the deep core, spinal and posterior chain (back side) muscles can greatly reduce pain and improve overall power, endurance, mobility and flexibility - on and off our mats!
