Ridiculously tight hamstrings and sciatica brought me to the yoga mat about 25 years ago. Who knew it would become a practice that has grown each day since then?Always curious and passionate about learning, I have been teaching for almost 20 years and continue to study with my teacher Rod Stryker, founder of Parayoga, a traditional yoga style of practice that emphasizes safe, accessible alignment along with relaxation, breathing and meditation to help quiet the mind.Every student and teacher along the way has supported my growth! I am grateful to have had many hours of study with Sarah Powers, learning Yin Yoga practice from her.My study with Dr Timothy McCall, author of Yoga as Medicine, helped grow my understanding of how yoga can work for almost anyone and any body. His most recently updated PDF lists 117 conditions that medical research shows Yoga will benefit!My yoga study led me to study Ayurveda - the science of life. Considered the sister science of Yoga, Ayurveda's emphasis is on using yoga, meditation, a diet and lifestyle right for you to create health and balance. I so appreciate the intelligence of this science to help create optimal health, and recently completed a 1600 hr training , becoming an Ayurveda Practitioner.I look forward to having time with you in class and I am excited to be a part of Imagine Fitness and Yoga!
