Rooted in traditional asana and influenced by Iyengar-inspired alignment and restorative principles, this training goes far beyond simple modifications. You will learn how to use the chair as both a support and a sophisticated teaching tool — one that offers structure, feedback, stability, and progressive challenge. Chair yoga is not “less than.” It is a powerful framework for helping students: Build strength and stability Refine alignment and movement patterns Develop body awareness Safely explore deeper ranges of motion Experience yoga in a way that feels possible and empowering Throughout the weekend, you will learn how to work with the chair in seated, standing, and reclined variations. We will break down traditional asana shapes and explore how they translate to the chair through warm-up, work phase, and integration/cool-down sequencing. You’ll also explore: Alignment-based chair yoga Therapeutic and safety-informed approaches Adaptive strategies for different populations Pranayama, meditation, and mudras within a chair-based framework Progressive learning principles for building student confidence This training is open to everyone. No previous yoga certification required. 20 CEUs will be given with a certificate upon completion of the training and submitting a video teaching a 45 min chair yoga class. By the end of the weekend, you will have the skills and confidence to design and teach inclusive chair-based classes in studios, online platforms, senior centers, corporate environments, hospitals, or private sessions. You won’t just learn how to adapt yoga. You’ll learn how to teach it intelligently, progressively, and safely.
