Dr. Jennifer Mattiello-Egan (Dr. Jen to her patients and students) has been a practicing Chiropractor in NJ for the past 28 years. She has been teaching Yoga for 25 of those, more so in the last 10 years. Jen has many fitness and wellness certifications and is a certified personal trainer. When asked what she does for a living her answer is “Move”! She loves movement of all sorts but has found Yoga to be most helpful to both her and her patients. Jen has an online Yoga studio and teaches via Zoom as well as in person at Montclair State University as an adjunct professor in the Exercise Science and Sports Studies Department. She has always enjoyed helping people move and move comfortably. Her motto is “Move it or lose it”. This is why she fell in love with Yoga all over again. Jen has been teaching all sorts of movement styles for many years, yoga being one of them. There had been a lull in her Yoga teaching (only teaching 1 or 2 classes a week) for many years. In 2016, she was having some issues that were all helped with a consistent personal Yoga practice. This is really when she fell out of “like” with Yoga and did a head-over-heels fall into “love“ with Yoga. Since then there isn’t a day that a patient doesn’t go home with a Yoga pose, stretch, or breathing exercise. You can find her on her mat every day teaching or taking class. Modifying, breaking down, and explaining poses, biomechanics, and anatomy is her jam! Whether teaching an advanced Vinyasa Flow or working one-on-one with those with mobility problems in a chair, she just loves helping students get stronger and find their balance in mind, body, and spirit. To her, nothing is more gratifying than a student saying “I CAN do that”!
