When you have anxiety, so much attention and energy goes into managing potential outcomes, and we can become stuck in our heads. Sometimes it feels like life is always sending a wave at us (it is!), and our systems feel ill-equipped to ride those waves. We wouldn’t try to control the ocean, but sometimes we think we can control the instability of life itself. The stabilizing practices were designed to help us dip down below the waves of uncertainty, change, and anxiety, to experience and sit steadily in the deeper self. They can also help us to build a stronger, more buoyant boat that can handle the waves. Through these practices, we begin to create positive changes in how our brain is wired, leading to a calmer, more spacious, more joyful life. Each session is 60-75 minutes long and may include: Restorative yoga Movement for Trauma Yin yoga Other yoga poses to either downshift or safely activate the nervous system Meditation including japa, tonglen, walking, yoga nidra, eating and other mindfulness techniques Marma massage - Ayurvedic acupressure Breathwork, including yogic pranayama techniques and elements of Buteyko Strengthening and activating physical practices to help increase your capacity for stress Aromatherapy (if desired) Ayurvedic lifestyle tips for managing anxiety, including dietary guidance and daily routine Customized home practice suggestions Forest bathing / All seasons nature immersion Sliding scale sessions are available, based on need and Hope’s availability.
