Escape to Yoga
Lisa Mitton RYT200I'm Lisa Mitton, a wife, a mother, a biologist, a yoga instructor, and a lover of life. I have always enjoyed being physically active. Approximately ten years ago, I noticed some physical changes that I found to be alarming, including a decrease in shoulder mobility, lots of tension in hips from running, sciatica, and balance issues. I began to explore yoga as a way to counteract these changes in my aging body. I was so pleased with the physical results. After just a few months of yoga practice, I could see the difference. Today I can say I have so much more mobility than I did, my hips feel great, the sciatica is gone, and my balance has improved. Because yoga has been such a blessing in my life, the desire began to stir within me to learn more and share it with others. I began a serious study of yoga and I haven't stopped since. I love learning about it, the physical side of yoga as well as the breathing, meditation, and philosophy. I received my 200 hour teacher training certificate from Yoga Renew in October of 2021. Since then I have also received certification in Children’s yoga and Yin yoga. I am currently enrolled in a 300 hour teacher training course. I don’t ever plan on stopping my learning and practicing journey. In my classes I aim to help students develop a love and appreciation of their own body and acceptance of who they are through a guided yoga practice that will nurture their body, mind, and spirit. I am here to help others feel more alive, intune with themselves and the world around them, as well as to develop flexibility and strength within the physical body. I will share my love and enthusiasm for yoga in a sincere, compassionate way, touched with humor, and life experience in the hopes of helping others develop a similar love for their yoga practice. I enjoy teaching Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Children’s, and Chair Yoga classes. I look forward to getting to know you and seeing you in the studio.
