Escape to Yoga
Laura Riverman RYT500It all started when I dropped off my 2 elementary school age kiddos at the gym daycare center so I could run on the treadmill to dissolve the stress of a busy life. On that particular day there was a line outside the fitness room waiting to get into a yoga class. I was curious. I didn't think they had yoga classes at the gym. I popped in line and grabbed a yoga mat. After class I felt amazing, energized, and calm. I thought to myself...you need this. You need to slow down and get off the treadmill. That was the beginning of my 15 year love affair with Yoga. I began practicing all types of yoga, mostly Bikram Hot Yoga. In 2017 when my kids went off to college I did my RYS 200 Yoga Alliance Teacher Training. I taught for 4 years, and completed my RYS 500 Yoga Alliance Teacher Training in 2022. I love the sequencing of Vinyasa. I love guiding students into a zone of breath and movement and giving them the distraction from eveyday life even if it's only for an hour. My hope is that their take-away from yoga will be the awareness of their natural strength and a better overall feeling in their body + mind. I like the class to be a little bit of fun, too! I teach with a nudge towards feeling your edge. I like to start slow, build to stronger postures and finish in a relaxing state. I like to see students grow. I think all yoga is good yoga and all you need to do is get to your mat to get started. I hope to see you on your mat soon.Namaste
