Ashtanga Yoga teaches students the most basic and fundamental parts of a yoga asana practice including breath, bandhas, and drishti. You can expect this practice to be invigorating and dynamic with a strong emphasis on the breath and movement connection, while utilizing an intelligently designed sequence to create flexibility, a strong body, and a quiet mind. Ashtanga Yoga is a set sequence practice which is a great way to build familiarity and confidence with the postures. Students currently practicing Vinyasa Yoga (or Flow Yoga) will find many similarities between Vinyasa and Ashtanga making the Ashtanga practice easy to follow. For those familiar with the Ashtanga method, you can expect to practice a modified and accessible version of the primary series.
Enjoy!
