CLOSED

About the Class

In the yogic tradition, 108 is a sacred number. Fun fact, the average distance of the sun and moon to earth is 108 times their respective diameters. Practicing 108 sun salutations is a meditative practice that connects the body, the mind, and the universe. Sun salutations heat the body and activate Prana (life force or upward energy), practicing 108 is tough but when we surrender to the process, acknowledge what arises emotionally, and then let go of our attachment to the feeling we gain a sense of lightness and accomplishment knowing that we are stronger then we think, that negative thoughts do not define us and that our internal power to shift our perspective will allow for us to find grounding amidst any challenge!  Why on the solstice? The summer solstice marks the half way point of the year, the height of summer and earth's longest day and shortest night. Solstice means 'standing of the sun' and it is a time that we can connect to this great turning point in the earth's yearly cycle. Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) is a mandala, or circle, of poses celebrating the sun
