Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to a more vigorous, powerful fitness routine. For those who need a mini-retreat but can’t quite get away, yin yoga helps you clear away the mental fog. You can expect fewer poses with longer holds, more floor postures, breathing techniques, and meditation. Yin asanas are held from 1-5 minutes, which allows the chi (energy) to pool into the body and offer a passive lengthening of muscles. There can be a slight active stretch in this practice, depending on the usage of props. This practice is focused on releasing deeply held tension in some of the body’s tightest areas: the lower back, hips, and legs. It will challenge your ability to stay present and detached as the intensity of each posture continually builds. The class is open to all levels.
