Description of the Restorative Yoga Class: Restorative yoga's gentle, calming practice is designed to help bodies and minds relax and return to their normal states. In this class, we do passive stretching and utilize supportive props—blankets, long and short bolsters, and blocks, to name a few—to help us find restful postures in “easy” (but not always simple) ways. Holding a pose for more than a few breaths might seem counterintuitive in a society that prizes fastness and efficiency—but each pose is held for a long time, the instructions are delivered slowly and deliberately, and the class moves at a meditative pace. You will settle in and find your way to unwind and apprentices at this most generous and kind way to practice yoga.
