About the Event

  Skyler Christensen and Lisa Waas are leading a practical application session based on the situations presentation of common conditions and ailments required for Level 1, as outlined in the IYNAUS Assessment Manual. Situations may include healthy menses, healthy pregnancy, and common musculoskeletal ailments of the ankle, knee, hip, back, wrist, shoulders, and neck, and stiff students. These situations do not require therapeutic applications of yoga. Candidates should use approaches that enable the student to participate in the general class. The candidate can address the situations by: 1. Emphasizing specific actions with verbal instructions 2. Teaching an appropriate stage of the āsana or modifying the āsana 3. Introducing a prop or utilizing hands on adjustments when appropriate 4. Providing an alternative āsana   You’ll cover how to recognize common conditions, what actions support each condition, and how to modify with simple props.
