Bindi Community Yoga

Bindi Community Yoga

What brought you to yoga?I’ve been practicing yoga for over 20 years; I studied South Asian religions in college and dabbled in various meditation techniques but yoga really hit the spot in a way nothing else quite did — it was a way to develop mindfulness while also getting my wiggles out. (I’m always moving.) And it was a trusted friend through many life changes, everything from self care to survival and finally a gift I honed and developed in order to also offer it, adding my own flavor and fun playlists, out in the world. When and where did you do your teacher training?I trained and was certified with Nessfit Yoga; Julie is a personal friend and I wanted to round out my skillset and credentials to be able to offer private yoga instruction to my massage clients. From there, I really started getting hungry for a studio setting, and when I discovered Bindi, I knew I’d found something really different and special; it felt like home. What is a core value of your yoga teaching? I really believe in the power of self-expression. I hope students in my classes will allow themselves to take up space, to rest when they need to, to flow to the music and shake their booties if they feel called to. You do you! I’m here for it.When you’re not at yoga, what is the thing that lights you up the most?I’m a homeschool mom and an artist; I used to always date artists, and eventually married one, and then one day woke up and realized, woah, I *am* an artist, who knew?! (Pretty sure everyone knew.) I kind of think we’re all artists, actually; we can bring a curious and creative spirit to everything we do. I have a lot of fun with photography and I’ve been exploring painting pretty passionately in the past couple of years.
