I just attended my first class, Absolute Beginner, and I am really happy that I tried it here! The instructor, Shannon, was so welcoming from the moment I walked in. The group was overall supportive and encouraging of one another. I was admittedly sitting in my car before going inside really nervous because I had never moved my body in this way before, especially in front of people. But it had long been something that I wanted to try and this studio did a great job of hooking me in for more. I am excited to keep growing (and building muscle.......I didn't realize how much core/arm strength this needed) in this place.

I've been going to pole studios in Austin for many years and this studio is the best! The instructors are amazing and work with you to reach your goals. I have taken Novice Pole, Pole Fusion, Do You Even Lift (Yourself), Free Yo'Self and Bend Not Break - Hips and legs. I have enjoyed all of them.
Free Yo'self is a free style class with rotating instructors. I love this set up because each week is different and challenges your movement. I took the class with Luki one week and Joannie the second week. Both teachers have strong backgrounds in freestyle but different styles. It's nice to see what they notice about your dancing then think up a way to make you change your movement and that is where magic happens. I enjoyed an exercise that Joannie taught that was like a Twister with pole. I also loved how she noticed I kept moving clockwise when I danced so the next song I had to everything counter clockwise, sounds easy but execution no to much :)
Do You Even Lift was a circuit training class to gain strength in your core and condition for pole using mostly your own body weight. We worked on inverts, pull ups and climbing on the pole at the end to gain basic pole moves to create a strong foundation.
Lastly is Bend Not Break - Hip and legs taught by Luki. She is super bendy and emphasizes correct alignment to prevent injury. We first focused on active flexibility working with partners to help improve lifting our legs and holding. Then moved onto our front splits and opening our hips. I love stretching classes and Luki has a good balance of challenging you but making sure you are listening to your body to do it safely.

To top it off the studio is beautiful and there is plenty of street parking. It's in a great part of town near food and drinks if you want to check it out after classes. I highly recommend this studio!

Took Absolute Beginner Pole with Callie and she was the most encouraging teacher! Not only that, the class was SUCH a workout. She helped me to bring out a little sultry side, even when I felt silly at first. Definitely going back :)

Do you work in a cube? Does everything hurt? Do you make grunting noises when you stand up? Are you feeling Luki?

Open up your hips, and send inflexibility to splitsville.
