career in martial arts in 1969 when in high school. He studied
Northern Shaolin Kung Fu for a year. Then in 1973-1974 he trained
in karate prior to his enlistment into the military for 4
After his discharge from the military, Rick resumed martial arts training in 1982-1983 in wing chun, hapkido and what was then referred to as “Combat Karate.” Following an absence, Rick once again resumed training at Missouri Martial Arts in 1999. Rick has been assistant instructor at Missouri Martial Arts since 2004. Rick is certified as a referee in the AAU and USAT unions and has refereed several tournaments, including state and district tournaments. Rick has also held several self-defense and anti-rape classes for women.
