Group Guitar for Adult Beginners
Sep 29, 2021 - Nov 17, 2021

Group Guitar for Adult Beginners

Somewhere in your house, there is a guitar. Or, at the very least, at your friend's house. There's no shortage of guitars in this world, nor is there a shortage of people who always intended to play just a little. Well guess what? This time, if you want to, you will play. Once and for all, pick that thing up, dust it off, and join this class. We've been teaching it since time began.

In this class, we'll start at the very beginning, progress logically, slowly, covering the basics of getting you up and running in an efficient way. You will need a functional instrument*, a notebook, a pencil. And you will need to practice a couple few times a week.

By the time we're through, you will be leading the next round of campfire songs. Just in time for Thanksgiving.

Come learn to play the guitar. Just like that.

Also. This class = a great gift idea.

*You don't need a fancy guitar, and if you need help getting the right (inexpensive, comfortable, no frills) guitar PLEASE talk to us first: play@beaconmusicfactory.com

Songwriting: Monday nights [Zoom — Fall 2021]
Oct 4, 2021 - Dec 6, 2021

Hello Songwriters and Aspiring Songwriters,

It doesn't matter what time zone you're in.

Whether you write songs regularly, or you're just getting started, you will be challenged in some inspiring ways to write a new song every week in this, one of Beacon Music Factory's most celebrated positively pandemic-proof classes.

Stephen Clair will again be leading this weekly songwriting class this Fall.
Ten Mondays,
Oct 4 - Dec 6. 7:30-9:00pm Eastern time

HOW IT WORKS
Each week, we’ll meet for an hour (or more) and I’ll treat you to song examples to consider, song strctures to puzzle over, a few new ways of looking at songs you already know and lovel and then, most importantly, you will be given a multi-layered songwriting PROMPT or assignment.

The weekly PROMPT is chock full of rules to inspire you, parameters that will help focus your thinking and still more layers for you to consider. Past students tell us over and over how much they learn and how inspired they become by these assignments. It is exhilirating and satisfying when you are eager to dig in and begin writing rather than feeling daunted by a blank page. That's what this class is all about. Throughout the course I’ll provide extra pointers, some harmonic, some lyrical, some conceptual, to keep you going.

Typically in this class, you'd write a new song each week. In this fall '21 section students will have the option to carry a song over to the following if they want to rewrite it based on the critique. Jumping on a reworking of a song while the iron is hot can be a good way to go. I am pretty sure you will amaze yourself with what you are able to conjure on a weekly basis. Your songs will be shared in class each week, and we’ll have substantial discussions about each student’s song; and then, of course, … you will receive a new song assignment.

Acclaimed songwriter and founder of Beacon Music Factory, Stephen Clair has been teaching super successful songwriting classes like this to adults and kids for years—both in the classroom and online.

Monday nights, for 10 weeks.
7:30pm-9:00pm
Oct 4 _ Dec 6
Tuition: $300

We will meet over Zoom. I will send full details when we get closer to the start date.

I am really looking forward to seeing you write a bunch of new songs, as you find your way writing sometimes far outside your usual stylistic habits.
