Springtime is watery, and is a time for cleansing and renewal. The blood is rich and thick from the winter building period. According to Ayurveda, this is a large factor in February being the leading month for heart attacks, thus making early spring THE time to move blood stagnation via ritual, movement and diet. Eating bitter and sour tastes in food drain fats and releases bile (cholagogues). A high fiber diet helps to move everything we are finished digesting, absorbing, and releasing.
The food choices have been careful curated to enhance the digestive fire, and support the body’s detoxification pathways. Before each meal an elixir of raw ginger, salt, and citrus juice will be served to stimulate digestive enzymes. Warm water will be available all day to thin springtime mucus, and liquify thick lymphatic fluid. Kitchari, an Indian bean & rice porridge, will be served at lunch & dinner for easy digestion and assimilation. Lunch is the biggest meal of the day, dinner is the lightest. Mealtimes are based on the sun rise/set schedule to optimize digestion. A special tea blend of cumin, coriander and fennel seeds will be served multiple times per day. CCF tea reduces gas, calms the mind, aids in the absorption of nutrients, flushes toxins, soothes inflammation, and improves indigestion. Each food has a special properties designed to bring the body into balance this time of year, and re-establish proper digestion.
Each attendee will receive a welcome basket that includes a neti pot (sinus irrigation), oil for Abyangha, a tongue scrapper, skin brush, and personal insulated cup for warm water & tea.
