Description
Join yoga educator Joann Engelberth for the Chakra Yin Yoga workshop.
Prana, or life force energy, flows through our body in energy channels called nadis (in yoga) and meridians (in Chinese medicine). These energy channels gather at points along the spine called chakras, often described as “wheels of consciousness.” The western chakra system marries our modern philosophical and human development lense to the ancient yogi’s subtle body map via the 7 “main” chakras to correspond our physical body with psychological stages of development.
In the Chakra Yin Yoga workshop we’ll work through a sequence of long, grounding holds in yoga shapes focusing on each energy centre, or chakra, starting from the base of your spine up to the crown of your head. Each pose will be held for 3–5 minutes and you’ll enjoy a mini meditation in each posture that includes conscious breathwork, visualization, affirmations, mudras, chanting the 5 element mantras for each chakra, and journaling opportunities.
This will give your physical body time to let go of any built up tension and allow a shift in your energetic body. When you practice meditating, contemplating, and moving these centers you open up vast opportunities for insight to arise. The wisdom of your body, and the wisdom sourced deep in your heart, surfaces, giving you the opportunity for living a more conscious and empowered life.
In this workshop you will learn the chakra invocation mantra and be guided through a variety of yoga shapes, conscious breathwork, visualization, affirmations, chanting the 5 element mantras for each chakra, and journaling opportunities.
Join us for this nourishing practice designed to offer more balance, clarity, and power to your being!
