Let's get physical! In this workshop, geared to teachers from any background, you'll learn how to design and cue core-focused sequences and classes for all levels. Whether you use these sequences as part of a yoga class or teach exclusively core-strengthening classes, your students—and your personal practice—will benefit.
This workshop includes a preassignment and follow-along classes to complete before we meet, so please budget at least five hours to prepare your homework in the weeks before the workshop.
Our in-person sessions will:
+ Create a clear definition of the core
+ Explore whether core strengthening happens in isolation (spoiler:
it doesn't; we are really talking about full-body strength and
awareness)
+ Review the basics of exercise physiology as it applies to core
strength training
+ Take a bird's-eye view of the Pilates approach and the yoga
approach to the core
+ Workshop the student experience in core classes, so we can serve
our students better
+ Prompt you to design new sequences, freshening up your class
planning, while also giving you a host of sequences to borrow and
use in your classes
+ Build your confidence in leading students of every age and level
of ability
+ Give you a warm, supportive environment in which to practice your
newfound core-exercise teaching skills and hone the abilities you
already have
