Guest InstructorDescription
Tai Chi is a soft style art, uses no force, requires slow even
movements, and all movements contain circles. Many Martial Art
systems have evolved from the energy principles of Yin and Yang.
Tai Chi helps rebuild the spirit and body and is a form of moving
mediation. Tai chi helps bring peace of mind, calm breathing, lower
heart rate, blood pressure and relaxation. Tai Chi helps with
strength and
flexibility. Many practitioners find their mind is clearer and
their balance is improved As a way of exercising, it can be done as
long as one lives. Tai Chi reinforces the notion, also found in
yoga, that we can only be in the present, and uses breath as a
focal point Tai Chi helps adjust weigh, and strengthens the brain.
In short, it is my experience that regular practice of tai chi has
many related physical, mental and spiritual health benefits. The
most difficult journey, but the most important one, is the inner
journey. Tai Chi is one of a number of wonderful vehicles for this
most amazing of all journeys . In this work shop we will learn some
theory, basis principles, foot work, breath work. We will also work
on movement sequencing to learn the introductory basic set I hope
to see you soon, to travel this path together.
About David Stark:
I have always been drawn to Eastern mysticism and exercise.
While in High School I dabbled with Yoga and Kung Fu. When I left
to go to university I engaged in more traditional physical
pursuits. I was able to come back to Kung Fu and Tai Chi over 35
some years ago, and in the last 20 years reacquaint myself with the
beauty of yoga. In 2009 I registered in the month long intensive
training course offered by Yoga Passage and I am deeply in debt to
the fine instructors there. Over the years I have taught many
dozens of classes of Tai Ch, Kung Fu and Yoga, at Yoga Studios,
Fitness centers, and for Corporate Fitness programs, privately or
in group sessions. Either you find the classes or the classes find
you. I attained a 7 th degree black sash in Kung Fu, and equivalent
ranking in Tai Chi, and I am a registered Yoga teacher. There are
many reasons why people are drawn to these eastern arts, and
sometime the
answer is not clear, and still we must participate, with the
knowing happening quickly or slowly, and still it comes. To me
Yoga, Kung Fu and Tai Chi offer many of the same health benefits
but from slightly different perspectives. Tai Chi is a soft style
art, uses no force, requires slow even movements, and all movements
contain circles. Tai Chi helps rebuild spirit and body, it is
closely related to mediation, and tai chi helps bring peace of
mind, also calm breathing. Tai Chi reinforces relaxation and being
in the present moment
Tai Chi helps adjust weigh, clear the mind and strengthens the
brain. In short it is my experience that regular practice of tai
chi has many related physical, mental and spiritual health
benefits. The most difficult journey, but the most important one,
is the inner journey Tai Chi is one of a number of wonderful
vehicles for this most amazing of all journeys .
