Virtual Beginner Course - Pre-registration required.

Tap dance originated in the United States in the early 19th century from the fusion of percussive dances from different cultures, particularly from African tribal dances and Scottish, Irish and English clog dancing. The influences from these different dance styles evolved to what we know today as Tap dancing. Throughout the history of Tap dance, a lot of racism and segregation has occurred. There’s an ongoing fight for equality and proper representation in this industry.

This is an introductory level for Absolute Beginners. Adults will enjoy learning Tap terminology & history, music theory, as well as basic sequences over this progressive session. They will develop confidence, mental concentration, physical coordination, and musicality. By the end of this course, students will have learnt part of a historical piece of Tap choreography. This registered course is for students who are new to Tap, students who want to dance, but never had the opportunity, and for those who have danced before and want to begin again.

$125 (+hst) for Full 7 week Workshop

Footwear: Tap shoes recommended.
Attire: Comfortable attire that allows ease of movement.
