Virtual Live Stream - Pre-registration required minimum 1
hour before class.
Jazz is a term that can refer to several dance styles. Jazz
dance originated from the African American vernacular dance of the
late 1800s to the mid-1900s. Until the middle of the 1950s, jazz
dance often referred to tap dance. Later on, popular forms of jazz
dance were the Cakewalk, Black Bottom, Charleston, Jitterbug,
Boogie Woogie, Swing dancing and Lindy Hop. After the 1950s, jazz
dance evolved to Broadway into a style known as modern jazz.
Emphasizing technique and style, this class begins with a
thorough warm-up, detailed centre work and “across the floor”
progressions including jumps and turns.
