This special session culminates with the opportunity for each participant to perform their solo burlesque act, as well as the group act, at the Brass Butterflies Halloween Party and Mini-showcase on Friday, October 28, 2022. There is a possibility of a repeat performance of the group act at the Brass Butterflies 10th Anniversary show on November 25th at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts (TBD).
This series is designed for those who have previously participated in the Burlesque Babies group class or equivalent.
Student Commitment: By registering for this class series you are committing to attending all sessions and practices, creating a solo act, learning the group choreography, and performing in the showcase. It is very important for the experience of everyone performing in the show that you commit to attending all sessions. If you miss more than one of the weekly sessions (due to illness or emergency), you may be asked to practice on your own time to catch up, or possibly to drop out, without refund, on a case-by-case basis. There will be a dress rehearsal the week before the showcase and there may also be additional supplemental rehearsals or practice sessions scheduled at the instructor's discretion. These are included in the session fee.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT ADULT CONTENT: Burlesque dance generally involves strip-tease elements and the choreography may involve stripping down to bottoms and pasties. Sassy is a ferocious advocate of empowering people to love and celebrate their bodies, no matter their shape, and she creates a safe and supportive environment in which to explore this. That said, nobody who participates in the troupe will be pressured to go beyond where they feel safe in that exploration. You will always have the choice to opt out of anything that you don't wish to participate in.
Pricing: Students may register using 8-Week Curriculum Class purchase options or using their membership curriculum class credits.
NOTE ABOUT ADDITIONAL INVESTMENT: Participants will be expected to purchase supplies to make their own costumes for the performances as well as appropriate shoes (details to be given during the session). While every effort will be made to keep costume costs affordable, it could cost $50-100+. This cost is NOT included in the troupe fee and should be budgeted for when deciding to join the troupe.
