Nothing says you care like a handmade gift. People have all the stuff they need and they can buy anything they want, but a handmade postcard from you shows that you’ve taken time to create a memory - that’s the purpose of this 3-week course.
As an artist, you don’t need to buy traditional greeting cards ever again: create your own set of small-size masterpieces this Holiday season. These postcards will be kept, cherished, most likely framed, and maybe even collected!
This is not a craft project. We are creating mini works of art and we’ll use them as Basquat did to establish his name, and as Picasso and Matisse did to send to their inner circle of friends. Today, those cards are collectibles.
Show the ones you love how much you care with a handmade work of art, delivered as a postcard. If you have a big list, make copies or prints, but the ones that are original will be especially precious.
You will learn step by step how to produce three sets of designs, using a different selection of materials (that you may already have) for each. You’ll be taught the same techniques as Olya Losina used in her pre-computer job as an Art Director, illustrator, and book layout designer at Radouga, a Soviet publishing house in Moscow, where all art was handmade. You’ll learn the lost art of handmade postcards.
