Yoga, as Therapy: A Holistic Approach
“All illness fragments and so whatever integrates also heals. ” -B.K.S. Iyengar
B.K.S. Iyengar’s method of Yoga and its therapeutic application for dis-ease is an acclaimed part of his legacy. Often called “Yoga Therapy,” it seems like a subject separate from practice, yet it is through practice that one acquires knowledge of the holistic, healing power of Yoga.
This method of learning Yoga as therapy is a practical and integrative approach that will transform your practice and, as a result, your teaching by giving you a direct experience of what, how and why Yoga heals.
Using Guruji and Geetaji’s teachings as your guide you will learn how to observe, assess and treat first yourself and then “an other.”
Note: these particular teachings were left to their teachers as both an offering and an obligation (dharma). In combination they lead from the stage of commencement in the treatment of dis-ease with Yoga towards a state of ripeness/fullness.

We're thrilled to share that we've secured another extraordinary yoga retreat in the stunning paradise of Mexico, and this time, we're bringing back the exceptional Gulnaaz! But that's not all – this retreat promises to be an experience like no other because it's not just about asanas; it includes a unique Teacher Training - “Teacher Development Program,” as lovingly termed by Gulnaaz herself.
From November 6 to November 11, 2024, Gulnaaz will lead this yoga retreat in the breathtaking Ixtapa Bay, Mexico. Ixtapa Bay, nestled on the southwest coast of Mexico, is a picturesque coastal haven that will serve as the backdrop for your unforgettable journey.
What can you expect? This retreat has been thoughtfully crafted to be an all-encompassing experience. The asana portion is designed for advanced Iyengar Yoga practitioners and teachers. If you were with us for Gulnaaz's 2023 retreat, you'll remember the exhilarating challenge of poses like Viparita Chakrasana, Mandalasana, and many other advanced postures.
But here's where it gets even better – the Teacher Development Program is open to all Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers (CIYTs). You have the option to immerse yourself in the asana classes alone or embark on a transformational journey that combines both the asana practice and the enriching Teacher Development Program.
Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to deepen your practice and refine your teaching skills under the guidance of Gulnaaz in the idyllic setting of Ixtapa Bay. This retreat is bound to be a life-changing experience, and we can't wait to share it with you! Get ready to embark on a journey of growth, discovery, and inspiration.
Gulnaaz’s workshop and Teaching development program will be held in a clubhouse just a short walk away from the villa where you will be accommodated. The clubhouse offers access to a pool and a beach for relaxation and recreation. After Gulnaaz’s morning asana session, brunch will be served at the clubhouse, and dinner will be provided at our house, prepared by a private chef. Please fill out this google form to inform us in advance of any dietary restrictions you may have. (You can find more information about the google form in special instrictions.)
This all-inclusive experience is designed for participants who will share a room with another participant. We only have limited spacing available so do not hesitate to reserve your room and put a deposit down. If you are bringing a spouse or partner, or friend you will each be paying the shared room fee.
