Barre workouts have the potential to be both vigorous and enjoyable. Bring the energy of music to a challenging workout brought to you by the Merrithew™ team. Participants learn how to build intensity using the structure of the Total Barre® class template. This workout introduces elements of athletic conditioning and performance training to individual exercise segments for an intense full-body workout. Learn how to modify each of the 11 segments to focus training on specific movements or areas of the body. Explore how muscular endurance, strength, stability and agility can be trained with a fluid, yet-high intensity workout. Powerful music selections propel the intensity-driven routines to amplify the results and energize every participant.
This workshop, created by the Merrithew® team, focuses not only on preventing falls but also on ensuring effective recovery from them. By incorporating the Stability Chair™ and Cross-Bow™ handles into our exercise routines, we can offer older adults a comprehensive tool for enhancing their postural stability, strength, and flexibility, ultimately improving their ability to recover from falls and maintain an active, independent lifestyle.
Learning objectives
- Apply the STOTT PILATES Principles to exercises on the Stability Chair.
- Understand the importance of falls recovery in addition to fall prevention for enhancing the quality of life among older adults.
- Learn and practice falls recovery exercises using the Stability Chair with Cross-Bow handles, focusing on balance, strength, and flexibility.
- Experience a workout that incorporates falls recovery exercises, ensuring ongoing engagement and improvement in falls recovery skills.
.2 CECs. This is an in-person Workshop
Experience new movement sequences and progressions to build strength and endurance, improve movement health and enhance athletic preparedness. Based on the four key components of athletic conditioning: Activation, Conditioning, Endurance and Recovery, this workshop reviews traditional approaches to performance-based training, introduces and highlights newer methodology and concepts and explores how they can be combined with the STOTT PILATES® Movement System. Created by the Merrithew® Programming team, this workshop demonstrates innovative ways of structuring and designing a Reformer-based program for the everyday athlete and beyond.
Get centered with one of our most versatile and convenient small props. Developed by the Merrithew® team, this Flex-Band® workout promises to challenge peripheral strength, mobility and coordination, utilizing the Flex-Band as a constraint and as a guide and focus for movement. The programming draws from functional movements, as well as the STOTT PILATES repertoire, and is designed to complement workout programs at an Essential-Intermediate level. Experience unique ways to engage and load the neuro-myofascial system.
Required equipment: 2 Flex-bands

The STOTT PILATES Principles form the foundation of the STOTT PILATES Movement System and provide the initial framework for programming. These concepts, when applied appropriately and strategically, will facilitate awareness and ensure optimal alignment as well as appropriate engagement of required muscles in clients. For the instructor, these Principles act as a reference tool that can be continually utilized when systematically evaluating and correcting static and dynamic alignment through any and all movement sequences. In each case, we'll examine what the Principle is, why it is important within a programming context, and how we can use movement to reinforce and integrate it into the system as a whole. This workshop, created by the Merrithew programming team, presents the Principles and shows how they are related to movement patterns crucial to optimal function and discusses their application to any type of activity as a platform for instructors at any level.
