This class is taught by an experienced, certified childbirth and parent educator. This class helps prepare first-time expectant parents to care for their newborn with guidance for keeping baby healthy, including information on sleeping, crying, comforting, bathing, diapering, and new parent support systems available.

One registration includes both the birthing parent and their partner or support person.

Preparing for Birth: Condensed Childbirth Education

Capital Health offers an intensive day of prepared childbirth to prepare the expectant woman and her labor support person for the birth experience. Class is taught by an experienced, certified childbirth educator. This is an intensive day of childbirth education from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on a Saturday to prepare the expectant mother and her labor support person for the birth experience. Discussion topics include stages of labor, birth options and comfort measures.

Classes are held in-person at Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell.

One registration includes both the birthing parent and their partner or support person.

Snacks and drinks will be provided and there will be a 45 minute break for lunch. Please feel free to bring your lunch or purchase food at our cafeteria on the Lower Level.

The 4th Trimester: Preparing for Postpartum

Confidently prepare for your own healing and the many transitions that will occur in the days and weeks that follow after birth with our Preparing for Postpartum class. You will gain essential knowledge and work with your partner to create a customized Postpartum Care Plan that incorporates how to manage sleep, feeding, meal preparation, visitors, essential self-care, and more. Additional topics that will be covered in the class include: what to expect at the hospital, physical recovery for both Cesarean and vaginal birth, bonding with baby, postpartum mental health and wellness, pelvic health, and fitness.

This class should be taken prenatally between 24-36 weeks and partners are encouraged to join!

One registration includes both the birthing parent and their partner or support person and light refreshments will be provided.

Understanding Breastfeeding - Virtual Virtual

Class is taught by a board certified lactation consultant from Capital Health’s Lactation Center. This class should be taken before the birth of the baby. Expectant mothers will learn about getting ready for breastfeeding, getting started, milk production, avoiding early problems, and support systems available. Partners are also encouraged to participate.
