STOTT PILATES®: INTENSIVE CADILLAC, CHAIR & BARRELS COURSE

This course is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement, as well as those who are unable to devote the time required in our Comprehensive Program due to work and/or scheduling issues. Conducted over 3 weeks or 4 weekends. Students registering for this course must have completed Intensive Mat Plus or Intensive Reformer. The Cadillac, Chair, & Barrels course has been structured into three separate modules; ICAD, ICHR and IBRL, to give you maximum flexibility. Completion of all three modules is required to be eligible for certification.

In the Intensive stream we’re looking for self-directed and highly motivated people with industry-specific knowledge and skills, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ideal candidates include

  • Current health and fitness professionals with prior teaching experience
  • Career changers who would like to begin their training while still working full-time

Admission requirements

  • Working knowledge of functional anatomy and prior participation in an anatomy course that covers in detail the human musculoskeletal system and includes muscle attachments, actions and basic biomechanics. Acceptable courses include the STOTT PILATES® Functional Anatomy course or a university or college level anatomy or physiology course (minimum of 20–25 hours of in-class instruction). Online courses may be accepted provided they amount to a minimum 20–25 hours of learning and include homework assignments, tests and/or a final examination
  • Minimum 30 hours participation in Pilates classes/workouts
  • Pre-requisite requirements: Completion of STOTT PILATES® Intensive Matwork and/or Intensive Reformer

STOTT PILATES®: INTENSIVE CADILLAC COURSE

Building on your industry knowledge and the material learned in IMP or IR you learn to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES Cadillac repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. 125 exercises on the Cadillac/Trapeze Table.

What you will learn

  • A variety of exercises performed on the Cadillac Trapeze Table through the full Essential and Intermediate repertoire
  • To become better acquainted with the Cadillac as a tool to create complete workouts or as a complement to routines featuring Matwork and other equipment
  • To observe and experience a variety of exercises utilizing the Cadillac’s features including the Roll-Down Bar, Push-Thru Bar, Trapeze, Leg and Arm Springs
  • The goals of each exercise, biomechanics and alignment, as well as cueing and correcting for safety and effectiveness
  • How to apply the STOTT PILATES Five Basic Principles to a variety of exercises, variations and modifications
  • Familiarity with the safety guidelines and application of the equipment for a variety of clients

Prerequisite

  • Completion of CMR or IMP or IR

Requirements of certification

  • 25 hours of instruction and supervised teaching
  • Minimum of 10 hours of observation
  • Minimum of 15 hours of physical review
  • Minimum of 10 hours of practice teaching
  • Total: 60 hours

STOTT PILATES® Workshop: Post-Natal Pilates

Most women are able to return to exercise four to six weeks after a regular birth or when they get clearance from their physician. Many of the exercises performed during the second and third trimester of pregnancy will be suitable now, but other exercises can be added to focus on reactivating and stabilizing the pelvic floor, transversus abdominis and obliques as well as developing lumbo-pelvic stability. This gentle but effective workout, developed by the Merrithew® team, incorporates Toning Balls to get new moms back on the right track.

  2. Discover how to modify for the needs of this special population

ZENGA® Workshop: Mindful Movement - Breathing Workout

This mindful movement workout, developed by the Merrithew® team, is based on the foundation that proper breathing is the key to a healthy, nourished and vibrant body. We use the breath to activate movement from the inside-out so we can concentrate on optimizing the core connection and mobility of the spine, hips and shoulder girdle. The exercises presented incorporate the Mini Stability Ball and aim to improve posture, relieve the body of negative tension, and strengthen the core.

  1. Apply the principle of effective breathing to modified Matwork exercises
  2. Understand how the Mini Stability Ball can be used to facilitate improved breathing patterns
