Deb Althoff, RYT-500, found the practice of yoga in the 1990’s and her life was forever changed. Her own practice revealed opportunities for emotional healing, and her yoga teacher studies led her to dive deeper into the therapeutic benefits of yoga. She received her 200-hour yoga teacher training, as well as 300-hour Healing Emphasis Yoga certification through Inner Vision Yoga.

Deb believes that yoga can benefit every body, regardless of physical capabilities. You don’t need to be flexible to practice yoga - you just need to be willing. She brings a joyful and lighthearted approach to her yoga classes, helping students recognize their own glory, as well as their ability to heal and thrive.

Trauma Releasing Exercises with Dave Berceli - Saturday, Dec 8, 2018 12:30-3:30 pm in Tempe
Dec 8, 2018 - Dec 8, 2018

Trauma Releasing Exercises with Dave Berceli - Saturday, December 8, 2018 12:30-3:30 pm in Tempe (VERY LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE)

$69 by 11/25; $89 after 11/25

Experience an evolutionary and transformational afternoon of naturally releasing past fear, stress and trauma from the body. When faced with intense stress or trauma, our consciousness can become agitated and seek their natural healing balance through several natural techniques including tremoring or shaking.

This workshop offers a rare introduction to the process of Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE™) on an experiential level with discussion of the vibratory effects of the release of developmental traumas, adult traumas and reduction of stress and anxiety. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to study with a trauma expert recognized the world over!

David Berceli, Ph.D. is an international expert in the areas of trauma intervention and conflict resolution. He is also the energetic and creative founder and CEO of Trauma Recovery Services (1998). For the past 22 years he has lived and worked in nine countries providing trauma relief workshops and designing recovery programs for international organizations around the world. Dave has lived and worked extensively in Israel/Palestine, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Yemen, Egypt, and Lebanon. Fluent in English and Arabic, David brings a keen understanding of the intertwining dynamics of religion and ethnic customs and has developed specific processes to enable people to manage personal trauma as well as bring healing and reconciliation between diverse groups. He is the creator of a revolutionary and unique set of Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) that help release the deep chronic tension created in the body during a traumatic experience. David continues to be involved in trauma recovery programs not solely for the sake of reducing the suffering caused by trauma but because he has recognized globally that trauma possesses unique possibilities of transformation in the individual if they pursue their recovery process to its ultimate end.

Come enjoy a relaxing afternoon of gentle restorative Yin Stretching followed by a full 40 minute guided yoga nidra meditation practice.

• Yin Yoga is deep stretching to increase flexibility, erase tension and increase circulation.

• Yoga Nidra is the heavenly science of complete relaxation for everyone. It is one of the deepest and most accessible ways to positively change unconscious patterns and deactivate the reactivity of the unconscious mind. Unlike shorter versions this workshop presents the full practice of yoga nidra backed by ancient spiritual teachings and the latest scientific studies. Yoga Nidra speaks to your subconscious mind and trains it for something NEW beyond programmed habits and negativity so that you may experience the profound joy of your heart that is always radiating and pulsating within.

• We start the class with Deep Yin Stretching and Gentle Movement targeting Deep Myofascial Release

• The full Yoga Nidra practice has been scientifically proven to:

• Unwind patterns of chronic stress, tension, and fatigue

• Increase peace and improves brain function

It is said that 1 hour of yoga Nidra guided meditation is the equivalent restorative power of 4 hours of regular sleep. Not only will you re-establish healthy belief systems, but also nourish your nervous system at its deepest level to create true and meaningful healing for body, mind and spirit. You leave the practice feeling rejuvenated and rested with a deep release of physical and mental tension and stress.

Would you like to teach at hospitals, senior centers, or nursing homes? Learn how to teach Chair Yoga, Gentle Yoga and Therapeutic Yoga to this fast growing population . By adapting traditional yoga poses to work therapeutically on the floor or in a chair, you can bring the accessible benefits of yoga to those who can not do a 'generalized' yoga class.

Seniors age 65 and older represent the fastest growing population in the U.S., and are increasingly drawn to yoga for its proven health benefits. Yoga can be an excellent solution to many common health concerns found in that age group. Yet, many of our yoga classes are simply inaccessible to those who have significant health concerns. This 10-hour workshop will cover:

  • How to safely and effectively teach yoga to older adults
  • How to work with health conditions common to this age group including arthritis, osteoporosis, heart conditions, chronic pain, joint replacement and restricted range of motion.
  • Special modifications to keep your yoga safe for everyone
  • Yoga practices to improve bone mass, flexibility, enhance balance and elevate mood
  •

Facilitated by Donna Martens
