Studio | Postnatal Yoga 5 Week Course
Jun 7, 2021 - Jun 21, 2021

Postnatal Yoga with Kate

Postnatal Yoga for mum & her baby can help rebuild strength in the pelvic floor, arms & legs whilst reminding you how to hold your body & activate your inherent core stability, even when it feels like it's disappeared. You will practice sequences for abdominal toning & lower back pain alleviation. The Yoga postures are specifically chosen for the postpartum body & your babies can cry, roll, join in or be fed. It’s a crazy class of noise, movement & connecting with other new mums. Please make sure your GP has signed you off to attend exercise.

Please bring a play mat or similar for your baby to lie on during the class.

Plenty of parking & time for you to arrive & settle.

Studio | Pregnancy Yoga 5 Week Course
Jun 7, 2021 - Jun 21, 2021

Five-week face to face course at my lake studio.

Safe & perfectly designed for the pregnant body from 14+ weeks to baby's birth-date. This class teaches us how to create trust in our own bodies. Prenatal yoga has helped many of us deal with the inevitable fears of the unknown, to lower adrenaline levels & to encourage the release of the special hormone that births babies. Every week we practice yoga both for our bodies & mindset; think of it as all round training for a healthy labour & birth.

You are encouraged to move instinctively as your weight & shape changes, after all you are pregnant, not ill! Yoga teaches us to listen to our energy levels & we discover how relaxing is a skill that is not inherent but with practice can assist us both with birthing & being a mum in the long-term.

We talk in class about the pelvis, sacrum & pelvic floor, so if you’re unsure about these areas, they become common place as we move & breathe in yoga poses. We can alter the class to manage pelvic girdle pain, so that you can maintain strength, balance & mobility all the way through pregnancy & to encourage postnatal recovery.

Studio | Yoga for the Addictive Personality
Jun 27, 2021 - Jun 27, 2021

This gentle, non-judgmental workshop introduces the idea that we have a choice in the way we live in our bodies. So many of us rely on our habit-patterns - we can't remember when we started but now, we've been doing it so long, we can't seem to stop. Yoga calls these habit-patterns 'Samskara', if we become so ingrained in our patterns that they alter our body chemistry, we may find we physically cannot stop.

Habit-patterns might include food issues, starving or overeating, debting, shopping, drinking, relationships, gambling, using drugs prescribed or otherwise, over-exercising, co-dependency, love-avoidance & a whole lot more. Anything in fact that we might use to change the way we feel. This workshop might be of use to those for whom the refusal to acknowledge the reality of one’s situation is wearing thin & the evidence is starting to pile up, for example losing friends or jobs, relationships or your memory. That niggling doubt is getting louder perhaps.

This workshop will also help those of us who live with or love people who seemingly cannot stop hurting themselves & repeating unhelpful life-patterns.
When we practice yoga, we attune to our body & our breath, we can learn to take ownership for the way we feel & gain control over our actions, we can recognise our cravings when they occur & not attempt to avoid them or give in to them, we may be more able to cope with & manage these feelings if we are more physically aware of them when they occur.

Stopping the repetition of habitual using is one of the most painful yet transformative processes a person can go through. More often than not, pain is our catalyst for change.

In this workshop we’ll begin with an easy gentle flow practice to get out of our heads & into our bodies; a widely appreciated method for creating space in busy heads & creating a mind-body connection. We’ll begin the day’s investigation into the addictive personality & routes to freedom from negative habitual patterning thereafter with a presentation examining denial, stress, social pain & the very real role of guilt & shame in repeating behaviours we know to be unhelpful. We’ll look how the addicted mind works & the neurobiology of dependence, reward & withdrawal.

I will provide plenty of tea, coffee & biscuits - you can bring a picnic lunch if you like, to eat on our shaded deck, whilst watching our fauna & flora.

After a break, I will present a final unit on the Yoga Sutras & the recommendations of this text for minds that become locked into harmful patterns & modern-day methods for replacing bad habits with routine, healthy boundaries & goals.

Our day will round off with a vision building activity & a relaxation practice, designed to increase body awareness which may in turn provide psychological & pain-related support for those who are coming to terms with addictions of all or any sorts.

Asana Lab - Unpacking & Rebuilding Yoga Poses
Sep 12, 2021 - Sep 12, 2021

No. 1 Question asked by students in their first two years of finding yoga - Am I doing it right?

In the first of these once monthly, 120 minute mini-workshops, Lucy will deconstruct 4 familiar postures every month & then help you reconstruct them with renewed attention to detail.

The group is limited to 8 people, in order to deliver individualised attention

Every month, asana Lab will take you on a journey through the asanas, helping you discover new ways of transitioning through postures & discovering what suits you prop & modification-wise, in each pose.

Please request asana that you want to explore, by email to Lucy.

2021-2022 | CY Teacher Training 200 Hours
Sep 18, 2021 - Dec 5, 2021

Interested in becoming a yoga teacher or deepening your own practice and knowledge? We host CYTT Ltd's Teacher Training course, commencing in September 2021.

Check out the syllabus here

Why choose this 200hr Training?

There are so many trainings to choose from right now; 100% online courses with studios in other countries are even an option. First, I suggest you take your time & think about what is important to you – speed of getting it done, will you want to teach online or teach face to face? Do you work full-time, does it need to be nearby, do you want to teach a specific type of yoga? Is being aligned with a lineage important to you?

CYTT Ltd’s 200hr training is not a quick course; this is a non-lineage course, meaning we aren't following the teachings of any modern day guru, though we do look at several lineages for reference. Instead we use the teachings of Patanjali as explained by Desikachar for our guide. This course takes 10 months, exactly because moving bodies & sharing ageless wisdom is a big responsibility. Your confidence when delivering classes to people who trust you, is vitally important. You can only call yourself a teacher if you have students & students only come back, when they feel safe & the yoga is interesting & inspired. Therefore, I have designed a course that delivers in detail all the areas I wasn’t sure about when I went out there to teach my first classes, 10 years ago, as well as all the anatomy & physical yoga you'd expect.
