Now more than ever, the immune system has been taking the spotlight. Over the last few years, modern medicine has also made some breakthroughs in understanding the complexity of the immune systems relationships – to the nervous system and the gut, as well as to stress and chronic mental and physical conditions. Much of this science is lending insight into what yogis have practiced for thousands of years.
During this Living Yoga series, we will dive into some of the current & surprising understandings of how the immune system works – and what happens when it goes into overdrive or even attacks its own body. You will learn how stress affects our bodies, and how yoga specifically supports our ability to physically and energetically flow with the stresses of human life rather than let them get stuck in our systems.
We will also immerse in yogic and self-care practices to support immune resilience. Expect to dive into breathing patterns and practices, explore guided visualization, experience deep rest, learn self-massage techniques, play with somatic movement, and inquire into the patterns and beliefs that underlie our relationship with stress and health.
Lakshmi is a Yoga Therapist specializing in Chronic Illness and she’s been producing science documentaries for nearly two decades. She loves to dive into the nitty-gritty of what’s happening in our bodies from a western medical perspective and to also provide practical and applicable tools to support resilience in our daily lives.
