Yoga for Healthy Sleep Restorative Afternoon

Whether you suffer from insomnia, a restless sleeping pattern, or you just need an afternoon of rest, you will benefit from this simple, effective practice. Explore yogic techniques for relaxation and mindfulness and learn simple yogic thought and method that can be practiced at home to reset your nervous system and focus your mind. The poses, breath work and awareness practices we cover are all triggers for the parasympathetic nervouse system - the part of the the sutonomic nervouse system responsible for bringing you into rest and digest mode. The parasympathetic nervous system releases feel-good hormones into your system, regulating the amount of adrenaline moving through you and sending signals to the body that it's safe to relax and drop into unguarded rest.

During the session you will learn why each of the practices helps to calm you down and prepare you for sleep, and you will tae home a handout which details the most effective practices to take home and incorporate into your daily routine.

Yoga is a practice intended to bring you into balance, and when you are balanced you can rest and sleep well.

Mother's Yoga and Massage Afternoon

A women's yoga workshop, with massage, in honour of Mother's Day. This is an afternoon for all mothers and daughters of any age to rest and replenish in peace for a whole afternoon. You don't have to be a mother, or be with your mother to come to this event - we are celebrating the abundance and worth of all women everywhere. Plenty of women out there are not biological mothers and give their creative spirit and care to their work, extended family, community, animals and the land. One thing we all have in common is that we all give, and now it's time to receive.

 

The yoga will be a women's yoga practice - yoga designed to nourish and heal the feminine form with plenty of restorative yoga poses to bring you into deep rest.

 

Jenny Terris of Alma Retreats, a local massage business, will be giving each of you a relaxing ten-minute chair massage during the workshop.

 

There will be herbal tea and treats served during the afternoon. You will leave feeling truly cared for and rested.
