Oct 7, 2022 - Oct 9, 2022

Yoga retreat weekend at Camp Asbury, Oct. 7-9. Hosted by Mike Curtis, Gloria McAlister, Dianna Rhyan and Jackie Parker and the Ahimsa Grille. Jackie, Mike and Gloria are yoga teachers that want to share the multi-faceted beauty of yoga. Dianna Rhyan is a mythologist and just published a book called Staff of Laurel, Staff of Ash: Sacred Lanscapes in Ancient Nature Myth.

Camp Asbury, almost 500 acres of protected land, includes a diversity of habitats including wetlands, a small lake, wooded valleys and open fields. 80% of the camp is wooded and includes 5 miles of hiking trails. The camp is adjacent to the high ground where water chooses between flowing into the Mississippi or into Lake Erie. Eagle Creek runs through the camp and is a tributary of the Mahoning River. The Methodist Church bought the land in l956 and created Camp Asbury.

We'll be focusing mainly on Nature and quietude. The title of the weekend is Touching the Earth. We will have gentle and restorative yoga, hiking in the woods and vegetarian meals provided. Our special Sat. program is presented by Dianna Rhyan and Gloria McAlister. Sat. night we have music. The retreat begins Friday evening and our closing ceremony is Sunday morning from 10 to 11:00.The weekend is designed around the understanding that nature is our teacher, that we yet have much to learn, and that our connection to the earth is essential for our well being. The title of the weekend is “Touching the Earth” and we will be immersed in the woodlands! We’ll have journaling, inspirational music, gentle yoga, vegetarian food, hiking and tree time. We’ll wake up our senses and rest our defenses.

The cost is $225.
