Cherishe Sookdeo was born in Trinidad
& Tobago and raised in NYC. Coming from a colorful, bold and
spiritually rooted background; she didn’t follow her spiritual
roots until after acquiring her B.A. in Comparative Literature. In
2014, she practiced the art of trust in the universe and it led her
to complete a 200 HR (RYT) Hatha Yoga training through the
Sivananda Ashram in Bahamas. Since then her life has changed
immensely for the better: learning how to live life fully and
understanding that life is more than just a bunch of coincidences
but a guided path. Practicing Ahimsa (non-violence) is one of the
main practices that keeps her on the yogic path. Allowing for
unconditional love and the ability to always look for the good in
others. Soon after her training, she has also received
certification to teach Chair Yoga, Yin Yoga and is a Reiki master
teacher. In her classes
she aims to bring a unique sense of
empowerment to each class through intention, meditation, pranayama
(Breath work) and Asana (posture). Her goal, is for
students to
leave each class feeling refreshed and renewed. She teaches in a
way that provokes thought and meaning, letting the student
experience themselves through careful planning and energy
reading.
