Erika spent her childhood in California wishing she was a ballerina and jockey and keeps those childhood dreams of creativity, dance, and expression alive to this day. Her love of movement was evidenced in her time spent competing in Scottish Highland dancing and bagpipes, cheer leading, and running track. After graduating from art school, Erika worked in textile and fashion design before becoming a costume designer for theater and film. After the birth of her son in 2012, her curiosity about the relationship between the emotional body and the active moving body led her to explore as many modalities of movement and strengthening she could fit in a day. Her approach to her own practice has developed over the past 25 years from a purely physical practice to a practice that incorporates healing, mindfulness, and restoration as well as physical exertion. In 2018 Erika completed her 200 hour Teacher Training at YogaWorks with Heather Seagraves and Markella Los. During her training experience Erika could see the union of yoga in her own life coming together for her as a teacher. She is currently completing her 300 hour training with Heather Seagraves. Erika is elated to bring her enthusiasm, humor, joy of movement and curiosity to the YogaSole community!
