Michelle Chua took her first Yoga class in 2001 and thought she’d never try it again. Life had other plans. Years later, a yearlong recovery from a dance injury drew Michelle into a regular Yoga practice. When she left her career as a schoolteacher in California to volunteer teach in Ghana and Costa Rica, Yoga became a daily necessity and a catalyst for personal insight and healing on all levels.Dedicated to sharing this deeply transformational practice to diverse people, Michelle earned her first Yoga Teacher certification in 2010 and her second, focused on Yoga Psychology, in 2021. Her Yoga classes integrate clear physical alignment, skillful breathwork, accessibility for different bodies, mindful presence and meditation. She nurtures self- inquiry and insights on ways to meaningfully integrate Yoga in daily life, beyond physical poses.Michelle’s passion for mindful movement, nature connection, creative flow, and conscious community inspired her to start Root 2 Rise Yoga in 2010, through which she continues to guide wellness retreats, Yoga, mindfulness and meditation in nature and arts-infused play-shops in California and abroad.
