Customer Spotlight: Knot Release Therapies
Last Updated on 30 January, 2026
Knot Release Therapies is a long-standing massage therapy clinic focused on delivering customized care while making booking and client management effortless.
Introducing the Business
Led by Nina Murray, Knot Release Therapies is a massage therapy clinic serving clients on the U.S. West Coast. After 17 years in business and an active client base of around 600, the clinic offers massage therapy along with complementary wellness services like stretching, select retail products, and more. Nina describes their core offering as highly tailored care, with services customized to “whatever the client needs.”
Why They Chose WellnessLiving
Nina came to WellnessLiving from Fresha, looking for a platform that could better support how a busy clinic actually runs day to day. Her existing setup for Knot Release Therapies made it difficult to create the kinds of memberships and multi-service packages her team wanted. As Nina explained, clients could end up booking the wrong mix because everything functioned like a single “series,” and some packages would even “book them all on one day,” which didn’t match her clinic’s model.
She also needed a better way to handle families and shared payments without creating compliance headaches. In her previous workflow, a parent paying for multiple family members meant appointments had to be booked under one person’s name, and as she put it, “HIPAA compliant doesn’t really happen,” because notes and visit history couldn’t reliably live under the correct individual profile.
On top of that, Nina was juggling separate tools for tasks like superbilling (using Google Sheets) and HSA/FSA payments. WellnessLiving stood out as a way to consolidate those moving parts, while also providing features her clinic can benefit from immediately, like kiosk check-in since “we don’t have a receptionist currently.”
What They’re Building
With WellnessLiving, Nina is setting up a smoother client experience from first click to check-in. Key priorities include online booking with smarter controls (like reducing schedule gaps to avoid therapists sitting idle between appointments), recurring bookings, waitlists for in-demand providers, and stronger policies around unpaid balances and unsigned contracts.
She’s also planning to use WellnessLiving to improve client data management with individual profiles and family relationships, so one payer can cover multiple people while each client still maintains their own records. And because time matters during a busy transition, Nina was thrilled to learn the team could help migrate key data from Fresha, including services and booking history: “Oh, that’s huge! Such a relief.” As she put it, having WellnessLiving handle more of the setup “would save me so much.”
Finally, Nina is preparing to upload service-specific intake forms and waivers, and she’s already thinking ahead to expanding offerings, sharing that she’d “like to be able to do group classes and events.”
What Success Looks Like
For Nina, success with WellnessLiving means moving into go-live with confidence, without losing momentum or history from the last few years of operations. Bringing over historical and upcoming bookings (back to 2021), setting up cleaner memberships and packages, and giving her team practical tools to stay booked efficiently will help Knot Release Therapies keep service quality high while simplifying operations behind the scenes.
Most importantly, it’s about replacing patchwork processes with one cohesive system so the clinic can keep growing without adding administrative burden.
