Customer Spotlight: Praying Hands Massage & Bodywork
Last Updated on 24 March, 2026
A one-woman wellness practice expanding beyond massage into classes, trainings, and space rentals that clients can book on their own.
1. Introducing Praying Hand Massage & Bodywork
Patricia “Trish” Blakey is the owner of Praying Hands Massage & Bodywork, an appointment-based bodywork business that also supports clients through group offerings and trainings. Alongside massage services, Trish runs CPR classes and offers Reiki workshops as a Reiki master, with a vision for occasional recurring community events like a monthly Reiki share.
As a solo provider, Trish wears every hat in the business, and she is intentional about creating a professional, structured experience where clients book ahead. As she put it simply: “Absolutely no walk-ins ever.”
2. Why They Chose WellnessLiving
Trish is moving to WellnessLiving from MassageBook, and the reason is clear: her previous system limited what she could offer and how smoothly clients could access it. “I can’t do any of that with MassageBook,” she shared, describing how even a small CPR class meant she had to manually squeeze people into the schedule because they could not self-register. The result was a calendar that looked “booked,” even when it was really a group class.
With WellnessLiving, Trish is excited to modernize her operations and finally unlock scheduling that supports both 1-on-1 appointments and group-style services. Affordability also matters, and Trish was mindful of staying within budget, including introductory pricing.
In her words: “This is awesome. I’m so excited. Oh my gosh… I just feel like that my system has been holding me back from so much.”
3. What They’re Building
During onboarding, Trish focused on getting the foundations right so clients can truly self-serve. Key priorities include migrating approximately 300 clients from MassageBook, including attendance history and upcoming visits, since she wants to “keep up with the lifetime of the client,” plus recurring bookings where applicable.
From there, she plans to build a streamlined client experience with:
- Online self-booking for appointments, plus classes/events for CPR and Reiki trainings (so clients can finally schedule themselves)
- Passes and memberships, including prepaid single-session options with wording that fits her business style
- An online waiver for new and imported clients to sign
- Website booking support via widgets embedded on her GoDaddy site
- Integrated SMS reminders and email promotions for clients
Future growth tools like Reserve with Google (“another advertising”) and, down the road, the ability to sell products and even offer “book a spot” style space rental, since people already ask if they can use her space.
4. What Success Looks Like
Success starts with a smooth go-live and a cleaner, more scalable system than what she had before. Trish’s definition of winning is straightforward: clients being able to handle bookings on their own, whether they are scheduling bodywork, signing up for a CPR class, or reserving a workshop spot.
“Now they’ll be able to book themselves. I’m so excited.”
Looking ahead, WellnessLiving is excited to support Trish as she expands her services beyond traditional appointments, experiments with new revenue streams like products and space rental, and builds a setup that can grow with her if and when she adds more practitioners to the team.
