Customer Spotlight: Savage Laboratories

Building a community-first fitness hub in rural Ohio
Savage Laboratories, founded by Brian Rosenburg, is a grassroots fitness center located in rural Ohio. Operating out of a repurposed plumbing shop—and soon to move into a brand-new facility—Savage Laboratories blends functionality with vision.
Brian’s goal is to create a hybrid space offering CrossFit-style group training and a rentable venue for independent coaches to run yoga, martial arts, or kids’ classes.
“There’s nothing like this around me,” Brian explained. “This is a high-wealth vacation area in the summer, but year-round residents need access to a quality fitness space.”
His model provides both structured classes and open gym use for a community that’s long lacked these amenities.
Why They Chose WellnessLiving
Brian explored several platforms—Mindbody, PushPress, Zen Planner, Glofox—but ultimately chose WellnessLiving for its integrated functionality, affordability, and hands-off automation.
“I work in substance use counseling, and I’m in grad school. I don’t want to be married to my phone managing the gym,” he said. The seamless experience for clients—from waivers and scheduling to payments—was key. He also valued the built-in marketing tools and the ability to self-manage his website using WellnessLiving’s embedded schedule and booking widgets.
Savage Laboratories onboarding process with WellnessLiving was smooth sailing, too. The onboarding team did a stellar job, Brian noted, and “worked with me patiently during this process,”
As part of his spotlight, Brian asked to include a thank you shoutout to Kevin Laux at Wit Fit Richmond Heights, who gave Brian some great startup advice—including a recommendation for WellnessLiving management software.
What They’re Building
Savage Laboratories is building a robust client system from the start. They’re implementing class bookings, waivers, punch-pass, and a variety of membership options.
Brian is already running early morning strength and conditioning classes for a dedicated group of women and aims to expand into youth programming, yoga, and personal training by leasing the space to local instructors.
“Everyone’s got certifications—but no home. I want to give them a place to operate.”
What Success Looks Like for Savage Laboratories
For Brian, success means simplicity and scale. “If someone sees the gym, scans the QR code on the door, signs up, and walks in without me having to do anything—that’s the dream,” he shared. By fall 2025, he plans to be fully operational in his new facility, offering expanded programming and passive income from memberships and subleases.
“I want the gym to run itself,” Brian shared. “I built this from scratch—now it’s time to let it grow.”
