For Tina Murphy, Fly to Fit Bungee started as a personal necessity—not a business plan.
In 2018, Tina was living with fibromyalgia and struggling to find a workout that didn’t make her feel worse. Traditional fitness classes left her in pain and frustration. Still, her doctor insisted: movement was essential for managing her symptoms.

Searching online, Tina discovered bungee fitness, a method that originated in Thailand and combines high-intensity training with low-impact support. It looked fun and effective. The only problem? There were no studios near her.
So Tina took a leap. Literally.
She bought the equipment, found a space close to home in Albany, New York, and signed a five-year lease—before ever trying a single bungee workout herself.

Turning Struggle Into Strength
Tina didn’t start with a business background or a fitness career. She was an ultrasound technologist. But her passion for helping others fueled her growth. Her mission was simple: make fitness fun and accessible to everyone.
She become certified in bungee fitness and other modalities, began teaching her own classes, and built a studio culture where everyone could feel included and capable.

At Fly to Fit, any class can be your first class—no experience required. The studio serves people of all ages, from toddlers to seniors. The youngest bungee participant was 14 months old. The oldest? 89.
Custom harnesses eliminate fall risk, allowing clients with cerebral palsy, MS, or balance challenges to move confidently and safely. “The fear of falling is really what limits a lot of people… They can’t fall even if they want to,” Tina says with a laugh.
Class programming evolved through experimentation and client feedback. Mistakes weren’t setbacks—they were learning opportunities. Today, the studio thrives on laughter, trust, and mutual support.

Fly to Fit is a family affair. Tina leads classes alongside a team of 10 instructors. Her son Ian manages day-to-day operations, marketing, and franchising. Her younger son works the front desk. Together, they’re building more than a brand—they’re building a legacy.
With Ian’s help, Fly to Fit launched its first franchise in Evansville, IN in January 2025. A second company-owned location is planned in New York, with a long-term vision to expand nationwide.
