Griffins Boxing and Fitness Grew 30% With WellnessLiving
Last Updated on 26 November, 2025
As the largest gym of its kind in Canada, Griffins Boxing and Fitness has spent 20 years redefining the sport. Led by Owner Dave Brett and Manager Natalie Nejedla, the gym has built an inclusive and empowering environment. They welcome members of all ages to grow stronger physically and mentally.
In 2022, Griffins made a pivotal business move. They switched to WellnessLiving with the goal of modernizing their operations and supporting their growing member base.
The results were immediate: monthly revenue increased by nearly 30% in the first year, driven by a streamlined system, smooth client experience, and higher engagement.
Together, Dave and Natalie have proven how the right technology can amplify a mission built on culture and community.
A culture-first approach
When Dave opened Griffins Boxing and Fitness, he had one goal: to change lives through boxing. Inspired by The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay, he saw how boxing could enhance self-esteem and foster connection.
“We run Griffins as a culture-led business,” Dave says. “Having people be able to grow and come out of their shells or to build confidence, that goes above and beyond what we do with boxing. Boxing is our tool that we use to do that for people.”
That philosophy shows in the longevity of the team. Many staff members have been with Griffins for years, with some staff staying with the team for close to two decades.
“Ever since I stepped foot in here 10 years ago, I immediately felt at home,” Natalie says. “It’s been a really comfortable, safe environment where I can show up every day and be myself and give my best self to the business.”
Reinventing boxing for everyone
Griffins welcomes everyone, from kids as young as five to seniors in their eighties. Its unique BoxTech® and BoxFit® programs, both trademarked across North America, combine authentic boxing training with a goal-oriented progression system using colored hand wraps inspired by martial arts.
That innovation helped Griffins become the largest boxing gym in Canada. They now operate in a 12,000-square-foot space that serves multiple classes at once. Families can train together, with classes designed for every age and skill level.

Building a community that gives back
Griffins’ impact goes far beyond the ring. Through its Boxfit Pink initiative, inspired by Dave’s mother, a nine-time breast cancer survivor, the gym has raised more than $50,000 for breast cancer support programs.
The Boxfit Pink classes provide an empowering space for women in the Griffins Boxing community who have faced breast cancer by offering camaraderie and support through movement. The same sense of community extends to every member.
“If you’re having a hard day, you know you can come in and have support,” Natalie says. “If you’re feeling lonely, you can make a friend here.”
Strategy behind the 30% business growth
Managing a large, family-focused business such as Griffins Boxing and Fitness comes with complex logistics. From family memberships to class tracking, Dave and Natalie needed an all-in-one business management system to streamline operations and keep clients engaged.
They switched to WellnessLiving, and within the first year, monthly revenue increased by nearly thirty percent. The comprehensive software gave the team the structure and tools they needed to operate efficiently while staying true to their signature community feel.
“We marketed ourselves as a family-friendly gym, but we had a system that wasn’t able to accommodate that well,” Natalie admits. “A lot of the work we were doing at the front desk was manual.”
Inside the WellnessLiving tools that power Griffin’s Boxing and Fitness’s success
Griffins’ growth didn’t happen by chance. It was fueled by technology that simplifies every part of their operations. From member check-ins and scheduling to client communication, WellnessLiving gave the team the flexibility and insight they needed to grow efficiently.
- Branded Client App: Families can book classes, manage memberships, and make payments all on one platform.
- “Elevate” Staff App: Coaches manage schedules and availability directly from their phones, keeping bookings efficient and flexible.
- Belt-Level Tracking: The platform supports Griffins’ unique color hand-wrap system, tracking every member’s progress digitally through its BoxTech® program.
- Automated Text Messaging: Griffins connects with clients through personalized SMS reminders and birthday messages, which generate faster and more frequent customer responses than email.
- Responsive Support and Product Collaboration: Natalie worked directly with WellnessLiving to suggest new features and improvements. “I really enjoyed those times with the support team,” she says. “Being able to bring forth ideas and test them and then being able to implement it with my team has been really fun.”
“The staff Elevate app and the branded app have been game changers.” Natalie Nejedla, Griffins Boxing and Fitness Manager
The next round for Griffins Boxing and Fitness
With a solid foundation and loyal community, Griffins is preparing to expand its reach by licensing its BoxFit® and BoxTech® programs to other gyms and organizations across North America.
As the studio grows beyond its North Vancouver roots, Dave and Natalie remain committed to the values that shaped their success: connection, culture, and care. Their goal is to inspire other gyms to embrace the same community-driven model that prioritizes personal growth just as much as business growth.
With WellnessLiving behind them, they’re ready to share their blueprint for confidence and community across the continent.
“Our big push is going to be to bring that out into the world,” Dave says. “We want to change lives and build confidence in people, and boxing is going to be our tool to do that.”

What every gym owner can learn from Griffins Boxing and Fitness
Dave’s advice for entrepreneurs is simple but powerful. “Culture, culture, culture,” he says. “Treat people right. Make sure you have your culture and core values top of mind, so you can be true to those things. The people will come.”
The people-first focus guided Griffins when choosing its business management software.
“For a business owner who’s considering a switch to WellnessLiving, I would tell them it’s a great move. The program has the capabilities to support a business, small or large. The branded app is a must.”
Natalie agrees. “WellnessLiving has given us everything that we need and helped us add in more.”
