Attending the 2019 Iyengar Yoga USA National Convention was an unforgettable experience that our team will cherish forever. We were truly inspired by all who were present and reminded of why we aim to make the best software in the industry!
About the 2019 Iyengar Yoga USA National Convention
The Iyengar National Convention is a unique event open to yoga lovers, yogis, and yoga instructors alike. Over the course of seven days, the exhibition showcased multiple classes, seminars, and unique performances. The goal is to give attendees the opportunity to learn the teachings of B. K. S. Iyengar, the founder of the practice. This year’s uplifting and successful convention just took place this past April, in Dalla, Texas; headed by Abhijata Iyengar, the granddaughter of Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar.
Everyone was inspired by Abhijata and her extraordinary energy and knowledge. Her yoga journey started at the age of 16, studying under her highly recognized and respected family members. Now, she is a senior instructor at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in India – where Iyengar yoga first took its roots. Since then, Abhijata has travelled the world spreading the teachings of her family; she’s been to France, Australia, Switzerland, and China, just to name a few!
In a quick nutshell, Iyengar yoga essentially focuses on the proper alignment of the body during each pose, along with precise breath control. This aims to strengthen the body’s sense of focus, balance, presence, and flexibility. By instilling alignment and balance, Iyengar yoga has helped many to relieve stress in our fast-paced world.
WellnessLiving’s Experience
We are honored to be a part of the Iyengar National Convention this year as a title sponsor. We sent along a team of excited WellnessLiving representatives to meet the attendees and share our story. Among them are: Len Fridman, our Founder and CEO; Avital Shinder, one of our Senior Onboarding Specialists (and a yoga instructor!); Ranvir Bhogal, one of our Product Demo Specialists; and Susie Johnston, one of our Senior Account Managers.
Our team got the opportunity to chat with yoga studio owners and instructors from far and wide and provided comprehensive tours of our software. On top of all of that, we were there to embrace the diverse journeys and listen to the inspiring stories of the attending yoga practitioners.
“It was interesting to learn about their experiences not only in the journey of their practice but also in the journey of opening their new studios and the challenges they overcome every day,” said our very own Avital.
The manager of BKS Iyengar Yoga Studio of Dallas, Skyler Christensen, also joined our team at our booth. Fun fact about Skyler! She was recently onboarded onto WellnessLiving by none other than Avital herself!
The Iyengar National Convention was extremely special for Skyler as her own studio teaches the practice. She spoke with yoga studio owners and other yogis and answered all their questions, including those relating to her positive data migration experience with WellnessLiving! Skyler decided to choose WellnessLiving over her previous software provider, MindBody and hasn’t look back since. She knows that with us, her business is in good hands.
Not only did we meet fantastic people, but we also gave out merchandise and hosted fun competitions, including a spin-the-wheel portion where people could awesome prizes. We even gave away an iPad to one very lucky Ruth Bradley! We’re very happy to announce that Ruth fell in love with our software and signed up with WellnessLiving after the convention to run her business, The Yoga Institute of Broward!
Our team had a great time at the Iyengar National Convention. On top of meeting yoga studio owners and instructors, we also got to witness classes that taught the key features of the practice. It was amazing to see so many people united together.
